Kendra's Story

Get to Know Your Photographer

Hey! First, I want to let you know I'm honored that you would consider having me capture your story. It truly is a blessing to be invited into your dynamic & trusted to be the keeper of your memories.

Who Am I?

As a young girl, about seven years old, my sister & I were adopted by a loving family who lived on an acreage just outside of town. Though, you might never guess if I hadn't told you. We were & are loved as if we came from them all along. Mom & Dad were high-school sweethearts who got married & had three boys; those boys would become our older brothers.

My Mom, having grown up around horses herself, introduced me to the love of riding & nurtured that love as I grew older. At the age of 12, I started riding in gymkhanas, which is an event made up of smaller events that tests your overall horsemanship.

We were also privileged to have a large yard to explore & play. Some years ago, when I was around eleven or twelve, my Dad decided to create some trails in one of our pastures. These would be lovingly dubbed by our family as our very own "One Hundred Acre Woods". (My Mom loved Winnie the Pooh, & so do I) It was in these woods that I would retreat to when i needed some alone time. Whether I was riding my horse Diesel, Blaze or Bella, sitting & reading a book, or just walking & reflecting on my thoughts.

In high-school, horses & dance were my sanctuary. I felt things so deeply, that i found it difficult to be accepted among my peers, & riding gave me a sense of freedom, while dance allowed me to express what I couldn't say in words. I would even venture to say that photography gives me a similar release of creativity & passion.

One year after I graduated, I met my now husband. This man is my rock & my safe place. Together, we have two sweet boys, Bjorn & Soren, two dogs, Jaina & Ford.

Why?

I have a few reasons for why photography has become my passion. On the surface, I enjoy being able to contribute financially while also being able to be home with my boys.

But let's dive deeper.

My Mom was a woman who was passionate about her family & her home. She loved to host family dinners for every holiday &, because we were all together, she would seize the opportunity to capture photos of all six of us; & more as we each started our own families. In April of 2024, she passed away. The photos she captured of her with her family that she loved so tremendously, are what we turn to for comfort. To feel like she is still here & remember what it was like to be loved by her.

I feel that you deserve to be able to preserve your own memories as authentically as possible, so that one day, you will also be comforted by the images of your loved ones that we create together.
